Hemp oil and CBD: what is behind them?
Recently a friend asked me whether hemp oil and CBD weren't the same thing. No wonder there is confusion: both come from the hemp plant, but they are not identical.

Safety and quality: what you should look out for
In Switzerland, when CBD is produced for cosmetics, none of the intermediate products may have a THC content of more than 1.0%. A product with a total THC content of 1.0% or higher falls under narcotics law (fact sheet of the Expert Panel for Borderline Questions, version 8.0, as of 1 May 2025). Reputable manufacturers state the CBD content and all ingredients on the packaging. Look out for

- Organic quality and formulations that are as natural as possible
A friend once bought a "CBD cream" online from abroad with no information on the content. In the end, it was a simple hemp oil cream. That is why it is so important to choose trustworthy brands.
