Buy CBD drops: full spectrum, broad spectrum, or isolate
If you want to buy CBD drops, you'll come across terms like full-spectrum CBD oil, broad-spectrum CBD oil, and CBD isolate. But what's the difference between these options?
Full-spectrum CBD oil
A full-spectrum oil is a CBD product that, besides CBD itself, also contains other compounds from the hemp plant, like terpenes or flavonoids. This CBD oil has a low THC content of less than 1%.
In our shop, you’ll find different oils that cover the full range of cannabinoids:
Broad-spectrum CBD oil
A broad-spectrum oil combines the features of a CBD isolate and a full-spectrum oil. It contains some additional compounds from the hemp plant, but like the isolate, it has 0% THC.
CBD Isolate
This is a pure CBD product. That means with a CBD isolate, you're getting only pure CBD and none of the other compounds from the hemp plant, like you would with a CBD oil. The THC content is 0%.
CBD oil – the different production methods determine the quality
For our CBD oils, we use only organic hemp plants grown in Switzerland, all with a THC content below 1%. When it comes to actually making the CBD oil, the production process for full-spectrum oil and broad-spectrum oil is only slightly different.
To get the CBD oil, different extraction methods are used after harvesting and drying. Let’s take a closer look at these methods below.
CO₂ Extraction vs. Ethanol Extraction
There are different methods for extracting CBD oil. The most well-known and popular ones are CO₂ extraction and ethanol extraction. Since these are often compared, we want to explain the differences as well as the pros and cons of each method in this section.
With CO₂ extraction, liquid carbon dioxide (CO₂) is used to dissolve the active compounds from the plant. After extracting the CBD, a carrier oil—usually hemp oil or sometimes coconut oil—is added to finish the product. This gives you the finished full-spectrum CBD oil.
The advantages of CO₂ extraction are obvious: the process is gentle and doesn't require any solvents. This means you get high quality and a final product that's free from residues.
If we take a look at ethanol extraction, we can already spot some differences compared to CO₂ extraction. With this method, the hemp plant is soaked in ethanol (an alcohol) for several days so the active compounds can be filtered out. Afterwards, everything is heated up. The heat causes the ethanol to evaporate.
Full-spectrum CBD oil made using ethanol extraction is often cheaper, but the downside is the possible chemical traces and alcohol residues. Soaking in alcohol can also cause some plant components to be lost, which means the quality can't always be fully guaranteed.
Hydrocarbon Extraction
This method uses hydrocarbons to extract CBD. The hydrocarbon is supposed to flow through the entire hemp plant, allowing the CBD extract to be obtained. Once this process is done, the hydrocarbons are evaporated with heat. The CBD oil extracted this way is of good quality. The clear downside, though, is that this method is relatively dangerous and comes with a higher fire risk.
Extraction method for CBD oil by cold pressing
The different active compounds in the hemp plant can also be extracted using cold pressing. This method doesn't require any solvents or other additives. That way, all the cannabinoids, terpenes, and other active ingredients from the plant are preserved. This is considered the gentlest method. Unfortunately, the downside is that the yield is pretty low. Cold pressing causes a lot of the plant material to be lost.
Buy CBD oil: give your skin natural care
The skin, with a total surface area of about 1.8 square meters, is the largest and also the heaviest organ in the human body. Depending on a person's size, skin weighs between 3.5 and up to 10 kilograms. But that's not all. The skin is also the body's shield against environmental influences and germs. It regulates our body temperature, affects our salt and water balance, and plays a role in the immune system. Plus, all the receptors that send external stimuli to the central nervous system—where they're processed—are found here too. Considering all these roles, human skin deserves special care. One thing that's often underestimated for this is CBD drops.
CBD oil with 10 percent CBD content or more for your own skin
If you want to buy CBD oil for skincare, make sure to check the CBD concentration. We offer drops with 10, 20, or 30 percent. If you want to make your own custom cosmetics, you don't need to buy CBD drops—you can go for our isolate instead. This one has a CBD content of 99.6 percent. CBD can have a calming effect on the skin, ease discomfort, and also moisturize your skin. Especially during the colder months, your body tends to get dry skin.
Why should you buy CBD oil for your skin?
In skincare, CBD oil is especially valued for its antioxidant effects. This helps protect your skin from free radicals. Plus, the ingredients can help prevent premature skin aging.
1. WHO studies on CBD: What science says
The World Health Organization (WHO) has looked into CBD in several reports and published key findings in 2017 and 2018:
Key points from the WHO:
- No abuse potential: CBD shows no signs of dependence or abuse risk in humans.
- Well tolerated: CBD is generally well tolerated and has a good safety profile.
- No psychoactive effects: Unlike THC, CBD doesn't get you high.
- No public health risk: The WHO currently sees no evidence that pure CBD is harmful to health.

3. Legal situation in Switzerland
CBD in Switzerland: What's allowed?
CBD products are legally available in Switzerland as long as they meet legal requirements.
The main rules:
- THC content max 1% (much higher than in the EU)
- Sale to people 18 and over
- CBD is not covered by the Narcotics Act
- Products must be properly labeled and safe
BAG regulation 2022: Denaturing CBD oils
In spring 2022, the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) introduced a new rule:
What happened?
The chemicals registration office ruled that CBD oils falling under chemicals law must be denatured—made unfit for consumption with additives.
Why this rule?
The BAG found that CBD oils were being sold as "chemicals" to bypass food or medicine regulations. But chemicals are not meant for consumption and don't have the same quality checks.
The industry's reaction:

Frequently Asked Questions about CBD Oil
Both full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD oil contain CBD along with other ingredients. In addition to cannabinoids, they also include valuable terpenes, flavonoids, and omega-3 fatty acids. The difference is that full-spectrum CBD oil still contains tiny traces of THC (less than 1% in Switzerland and less than 0.2% in products approved in the EU).
We’ve chosen to use only full-spectrum for our CBD oils, and we really believe in it.
All DOLOCAN® CBD oils come from organically grown hemp in Switzerland. Our CBD oils are made using a supercritical CO2 extraction process, and we use only organic hemp seed oil as the carrier oil.
All our products contain no artificial ingredients and are free from pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, and growth hormones.
Plus, all CBD oils in our Green Passion® shop are completely free from any solvent residues and, thanks to a modern extraction process, are also free from heavy metals.
When buying CBD oil, you should always make sure that the THC content complies with local regulations. In Switzerland, the THC level must be below 1%, and in the EU it has to be under 0.2%.
You should also pay attention to the quality of the carrier oil and any artificial additives.
In our Green Passion® CBD online shop, you'll find a selection of products from Switzerland with organic hemp seed oil as the carrier oil. All our DOLOCAN® CBD oils are free from chemical fertilizers and artificial additives. We also don't use pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, or growth hormones. Plus, all our products are free from solvent residues, and thanks to the supercritical CO2 extraction method, they contain no heavy metals.
All our CBD oils are made using supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, also known as CO2 extraction. Here, the term supercritical doesn’t refer to the production process, but to the chemical state of the carbon dioxide. To extract CBD (cannabidiol) from the hemp plant, the plant material is saturated with liquid CO2. Then, the temperature is raised and the pressure is lowered so the carbon dioxide returns to a gaseous state and can be separated from the extract.
The result is highly concentrated CBD. This safe and effective extraction method produces especially pure extracts with high CBD concentrations, and there are no solvent residues left behind. All our CBD oils are produced and made in Switzerland under the highest quality standards.
Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, is a natural compound extracted from the female hemp plant. Besides CBD, the Cannabis Sativa plant also contains other cannabinoids like CBG and CBC, which together create what's called the entourage effect. Unlike CBD or THC, cannabidiol doesn't have any intoxicating or psychoactive effects on the body. Premium Swiss-quality hemp offers a wide range of natural compounds, including terpenes, flavonoids, and essential oils. In recent years, CBD has been getting more attention in the wellness world and is becoming more popular with people looking for plant-based options for their well-being. CBD interacts with your body's endocannabinoid system and can have different effects on your body. Many users say it helps them feel calmer when they're anxious and supports better sleep. How CBD works is different for everyone and depends on the dose, how you take it, and your own body. If CBD works for you, it might help you relax and boost your overall well-being. It's important to start with a low amount and slowly increase the drops per day to find the best dose for your needs. If you have any health conditions or need to take medication, you should check with a doctor first to rule out any possible interactions. CBD oils can be a useful addition to your routine, but they don't replace medical treatment.
When choosing the right CBD drops, it all comes down to the CBD content and your personal needs. We offer extracts in 10 ml bottles with concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30%. CBD is generally considered well tolerated, but some people might experience side effects. Possible effects include tiredness, dry mouth, or slight changes in blood pressure. Usually, these side effects are mild and go away if you adjust the dosage. If you need to take medication, you should definitely talk to a doctor, since CBD can interact with other meds. Many studies and sources conclude that, when used correctly, CBD causes fewer issues than many conventional medicines. Always pay attention to the quality of CBD oils and only buy from trusted sellers like our CBD shop. If you have questions about treatment or therapy, reach out to medical professionals.
Hemp oil is made from the seeds of the hemp plant through cold pressing and doesn’t contain any cannabinoids like CBD or THC. It’s packed with omega-3 fatty acids and is great for food or as an alternative to olive oil in the kitchen. CBD oils, on the other hand, are extracted from the flowers and leaves of the cannabis plant and contain not just CBD but also other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. This combo creates the entourage effect, where the different compounds work together in synergy. Our range includes both pure hemp seed oil as a carrier oil and full spectrum CBD oils with the full power of the plant. Both products have their place and offer lots of ways to use them. Check out our blog for more info and a post about the best ways to use them.
