Discover CBG buds for yourself

Like most other plants, the female hemp plant also develops buds. But not every hemp flower is automatically a CBG flower, because the cannabigerol content is only high in those buds that have a low THC level. Our special non-psychoactive CBG flowers usually have a CBG content of up to 10%, making them especially high quality.

We usually grow our CBG flowers completely indoors. The products from our CBD shop come from sustainable and organic cultivation in Switzerland, so you'll only find top-quality products with us.

With a THC content of under 0.2 percent, our CBG flowers are, of course, legal both in Switzerland and the EU.

What makes CBG buds special?

Before you buy CBG buds, you're probably wondering what makes them so special and how they're different from CBD buds. CBG buds have a high content of cannabigerol – in our buds, the CBG level even reaches 8-10%. Cannabigerol is the "mother molecule" of CBD, THC, and other well-known cannabinoids, meaning every cannabinoid starts out as CBG before it turns into CBD, etc. through chemical changes. Unlike THC, CBG isn't psychoactive and doesn't get you high. CBG and CBD are very similar, but research suggests that CBG might have even more positive effects on the human body than CBD.

Unlike CBD, the amount of CBG that can be extracted from the buds is very low. In the past, the CBG content in CBG buds was often below 1%. Only after a lot of breeding and lab analysis did it become possible to grow hemp strains whose buds had a higher CBG content. So in our CBG bud Passion-CBG you'll find a CBG content of 8-10% as well as lots of other quality ingredients and terpenes. To always guarantee a high CBG content and top quality, our CBG buds – just like our CBD buds – are constantly tested in the lab.

When it comes to taste, this CBG bud is something special, with an aroma that reminds you of hops, floral chamomile, and a pine forest scent.

The cultivation of CBG buds

When growing hemp plants, you can basically choose between outdoor, indoor, and greenhouse cultivation. Each location has its own pros and cons.

Outdoor cultivation

Growing hemp outdoors saves money because you barely need any equipment. Ideally, water comes straight from the sky and the lighting is a free gift from nature. Sometimes you’ll need to water during heatwaves and long dry spells, but constant rain is riskier—your plants can get moldy. Growing and harvesting aren’t possible from late autumn onwards, which means you’ll get a smaller yield.

Indoor cultivation

When growing indoors, you can control all the factors that affect the hemp plants and the CBG buds pretty precisely. Light and temperature are just as adjustable as water and nutrients. Plus, you can harvest all year round. However, it costs quite a bit more than outdoor growing, and the yield of CBG buds is lower on the relatively small space.

Growing in the greenhouse:

The greenhouse is considered a kind of compromise between both approaches. The outer walls let sunlight in but keep rain out. Inside, the warmth is retained—and various harmful influences can be kept away. Still, you need to make sure there's a steady supply of water and nutrients here too.

That's why you should buy CBG flowers from Green Passion

On top of that, we offer a wide range of other products like CBD oil and cosmetics. Ordering and payment are super easy, shipping is quick, and soon you'll be able to enjoy your CBG buds.

How long is the shelf life of CBG buds?

Sometimes you can't use all the buds right after you get them. That's totally fine, because our products can be stored for 6 to 12 months after gentle drying without any issues. Just make sure to keep your CBG buds away from sunlight, air, and moisture during this time. They like a temperature between 16 and 20 degrees Celsius, so don't put them in the fridge. A dry basement or a cool room is better.

Unlike CBD, the amount of CBG extracted from the buds is very small. In the past, CBG content in CBG buds was often below 1%. It took a lot of breeding and lab analysis to finally grow hemp strains with buds that have a higher CBG content. In our CBG bud Passion-CBG, you'll find a CBG content of 8-10% along with lots of other quality ingredients and terpenes. To make sure our CBG buds—and also our CBD buds—always have high CBG content and top quality, we have them regularly tested in labs.

When it comes to taste, this CBG bud is something special, with an aroma that reminds you of hops, floral chamomile, and a woody pine scent.

Tips for storing to preserve aroma

UV light breaks down the active ingredients over time and dries out the CBG buds. It also damages the resin glands, which are responsible for that natural stickiness. So, if you want to store your CBG buds properly, you definitely need a lightproof container. The container should also be airtight, otherwise the CBG buds will dry out and lose their tasty aroma pretty quickly. Ideally, humidity should be between 50 and 60 percent—then nothing stands in the way of enjoying them later!

Frequently Asked Questions about CBG

Cannabigerol, also known as CBG, is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that's most commonly found in cannabis strains with low THC and high CBD content. So, CBG won't make you feel high. Unlike THC, CBG binds to cannabinoid receptors in the brain. However, CBG actually counteracts the psychoactive effects of THC. The concentrations of CBG vary between different cannabis strains, but they're usually extremely low, which makes extraction difficult.

Affinity for Cannabinoid Receptors
One difference between CBD and CBG is their affinity for cannabinoid receptors. Compared to CBG, CBD has a low affinity for cannabinoid receptors but has a very complex effect. CBG has a high affinity for both CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors, which can make CBG very helpful for dealing with various conditions.

Different Concentrations in the Cannabis Plant
Another difference is that the concentration of CBG in a hemp plant changes compared to CBD. As the cannabis plant matures, CBGA is converted into THC and CBD. This leaves CBG concentrations extremely low. That's why it's recommended to harvest the hemp plant early to get a higher CBG concentration.

Cannabigerolic Acid as a Common Origin
Both CBD and CBG have cannabigerolic acid (CBGA) as their main primary chemical compound. As the plant matures, CBGA breaks down into CBCA, THCA, and CBDA, with a small percentage of CBGA remaining. When decarboxylation happens, THCA, CBDA, CBCA, and CBGA further break down into THC, CBD, CBC, and CBG.

CBD and CBG Are Both Non-Psychoactive
Even though both compounds interact with our endocannabinoid system (ECS), neither CBD nor CBG is psychoactive and you won't get high from either of them.

CBD and CBG Both Cause an Entourage Effect
To get the positive interaction between the two compounds, also known as the entourage effect, it's best to combine CBD and CBG instead of separating both cannabinoids into isolates.

CBG buds are legal just like all other cannabis products, as long as the THC content is below 1%. In Europe, the THC level can't exceed 0.2%.
