CBD hash is a concentrate made from the resin of the cannabis plant. Unlike CBD flowers, where the entire plant material is used, hash is made exclusively from the resin-rich trichome material. The result is a much higher concentration of cannabinoids and terpenes in a small amount: more intense aroma, stronger effect, less needed per use.
Compared to other concentrates like live rosin or wax, hash is by far the most traditional method. No solvents, no complicated extraction. Just mechanical force, sometimes just your own hands. This makes CBD hash one of the purest and most accessible concentrates available.
The most important CBD hash types
Pressed CBD hash
The most common method: dried CBD flowers are shaken through increasingly fine sieves until the resin crystals are separated from the plant material. The resulting powder is then pressed under pressure. The finer the sieve, the purer the final product.
The strength of the pressing determines the consistency. Less pressure gives you loose, crumbly pollen. More pressure results in compact, tightly bound dry sift hash. Both types have intense, clearly defined aromas that come directly from the terpene profile of the original plant. In the range: Black Afghan, Golden Maroc, Red Lebanese, Zero Zero, Old School.
Charas: hand-rubbed CBD hash
Charas is the oldest hash-making method in the world. The resin is not sieved or pressed, but is collected by hand-rubbing directly from the living, fresh hemp plant. This technique comes from northern India and Nepal, where it is still practiced today in regions like the Parvati Valley and Kullu Valley.
Since the plant is still alive, the terpenes are fully intact at the time of collection. This creates an aroma that is noticeably different from pressed hash: sweeter, earthier, warmer. The consistency is soft, sticky, and moldable. In the range: Charas Passion, Manali Cream.
Kief: CBD hash in its purest form
Kief is made by finely sifting dried flowers. What remains after sifting are almost pure resin glands, largely separated from the rest of the plant material. The result is a light, powdery to slightly compressed concentrate with an exceptionally clean taste.
Kief has the mildest aroma profile of all hash types. No heavy resin notes, no earthy intensity. Instead, a light, floral character. Perfect for anyone new to CBD hash or looking for a lighter alternative to creamy varieties. In the range: Super Pollen.
How can you tell if CBD hash is good?
- Color: Dark hash like Black Afghan indicates a high resin concentration. Light hash like Zero Zero or Super Pollen stands for very fine sifting and high purity. Neither dark nor light is automatically better: these are different types with different profiles.
- Consistency: Good pressed hash breaks cleanly without crumbling right away. It should be easy to shape when warmed, without being sticky. Charas hash is naturally soft and sticky. That’s not a sign of poor quality, but a feature of the production method.
- Aroma: Fresh CBD hash smells intense and distinctive. Spicy, earthy, floral, or sweet, depending on the variety. A weak, musty, or chemical smell points to poor storage or low-quality starting material.
- Lab values: The CBD and THC content should be clearly stated on the packaging. If this information is missing, that’s a red flag. All varieties at Green Passion are regularly lab-tested and meet Swiss legal requirements.
Which CBD hash is right for you?
If you’re buying CBD hash for the first time, we recommend Golden Maroc or Super Pollen. Both have approachable, not too intense profiles and are easy to dose. Zero Zero is the right choice for anyone who prefers pure hash character without side aromas.
If you already have experience with hash and prefer more intense, earthy aromas, you’ll enjoy Black Afghan or Red Lebanese. If you want to experience the difference between traditional pressed hash and hand-rubbed charas, it’s best to order Charas Passion and a pressed hash for a direct comparison.
Is CBD hash legal in Switzerland?
Yes. CBD hash is legal in Switzerland as long as the THC content is below 1%. That’s the case for all products in the Green-Passion range. Switzerland is one of the few countries in Europe that explicitly allows CBD products with up to 1% THC. Every variety is regularly tested by an independent lab. The exact CBD and THC content is stated on every package.

What’s the difference between CBD hash and CBD flowers?
CBD hash is a concentrate made from the resin of the cannabis plant. Compared to CBD flowers, hash has a much higher cannabinoid and terpene content, since only the resin-rich trichome material is processed. The aroma is more intense, and you need less per use.

What's the difference between Charas and pressed hash?
Pressed hash is made by sifting dried flowers and then pressing the resin crystals. Charas is obtained by manually rubbing the fresh, living hemp plant. This results in a softer, stickier texture and a sweet-earthy aroma that clearly sets it apart from pressed hash.
What is kief and how is it different from hash?
Kief is the sifted resin glands of the hemp plant in almost pure form, barely or not pressed at all. It has a powdery texture and the mildest, cleanest aroma profile of all hash types. Super Pollen is our kief in the range: perfect as an introduction to CBD hash.
How do I store CBD hash properly?
It's best to keep it cool, dark, and airtight in a small glass jar. Heat and direct sunlight speed up the breakdown of terpenes and cannabinoids. If stored correctly, CBD hash stays in good quality for several months.
