In mid-August, SRF reported on a new phenomenon: chemically treated hemp buds. Industrial hemp, cannabis without any psychoactive effect, is being mixed with synthetic cannabinoids. This makes the buds have effects similar to THC-rich cannabis, and producers can make a lot more money from them. But this chemical treatment has negative consequences for users.
According to SRF, the “cocktail,” made up of various synthetic substances, can easily be sprayed onto otherwise harmless buds. But since it doesn’t distribute evenly, users never know how much of the mix they’re actually getting. The result: anything from vomiting, fainting, hallucinations, psychosis, to heart attacks is possible. So far, at least 61 deaths have been officially recorded. The phenomenon has already spread throughout Europe.
Basically, the effect of the sprayed-on chemical mix is similar to THC. But because of the high concentration, the psychoactive effect is much stronger.
The problem with the new substance: you can’t see it with the naked eye. Experts recommend taking it slow: start with 1-2 puffs and then wait 15 minutes to see how strong the effect is. Also, mixing the hemp well is a good idea.
If you want to be sure you’re buying high-quality cannabis products and get the effect you’re looking for, there are plenty of CBD products in Switzerland that you can buy legally.
