About Cannabis & CBD

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (shortened to: CBD) is the second most common cannabinoid in hemp after the main active ingredient THC. It belongs to the phytocannabinoids. Cannabis indica-dominant strains usually have a higher CBD content than strains that are mainly Cannabis sativa.

Effects of CBD

Taking CBD on its own doesn’t cause any high – it’s not psychoactive – and there are no known relevant (psychological) side effects.

The specific effects of CBD, like those of other cannabinoids, aren’t fully understood yet. So there’s definitely room to discover more effects. The effects when taken alone are also different from when it’s combined with other compounds from the cannabis plant (for example, over 100 cannabinoids, plus flavonoids, terpenes, terpenoids).

CBD works through both the CB1 and CB2 receptors. The receptors of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) are activated or blocked by the body’s own cannabinoids (endocannabinoids) and probably influence a lot of physiological processes.

CBD is not a remedy

This page is just for informational purposes. According to Swiss medicine regulations, any promises of healing are prohibited. CBD is not a remedy and is not advertised as such by Green Passion. CBD may have pharmacological properties. We don’t give medical advice or make diagnoses. This page doesn’t encourage anyone to take or use CBD. All information is purely for reference.

Swissmedic, the Federal Office of Public Health, the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office, and the Federal Office for Agriculture have also put together an information sheet on CBD hemp, which you can find at the following link.
